Now more than ever, we are constantly looking for new ways to save money and get the most bang for our buck.  At Chameleon Salon we firmly believe that you don’t have to sacrifice quality service or products for an affordable price.  We use one of the finest hair products you will find on the market today.  We are absolutely head over heels in love with PureOlogy!  PureOlogy is a 100% vegan hair care line designed specifically for colored and chemically treated hair.  Not only are their products free of animal bi products and vegan friendly, but the bottles are also recyclable!  And if that wasn’t reason enough to give PureOlogy a try… it gets even better.  PureOlogy products actually do what they’re supposed to!  Just in case you’re not satisfied with their product within 4 weeks of using it, you can send it back to PureOlogy with a receipt from Chameleon Salon, and they will refund 100% of your money back to you!  Personally, we think they can offer that 100% money back guarantee because no one ever wants to return their product.  We love PureOlogy because you can immediately see and feel the difference in your hair.  Another thing we’re crazy about is how long the product lasts us.  Because PureOlogy doesn’t water down their products, it’s much more concentrated than other products on the market….the only water that you will find in their products is the water found in the botanical ingredients.  So when we’d normally give our shampoo bottles a good squeeze and go through a bottle every couple of months, we can now use smaller amounts each time and our bottles are now lasting anywhere from 6-8 months!  We’re pretty excited about that.

If you’re looking to buy a high quality product, protect your colored or chemically treated hair…you can’t afford not to use PureOlogy.  When you use a product that is not suited for your hair type, you are basically washing money down the drain when you shower and style your hair.  I don’t know about you, but I like my money where it belongs….with me!  We’re so sure you’ll love it as much as we do that we’re offeringa 10% discount when you take home your favorite PureOlogy products the day of your service at Chameleon Salon.  Just an extra incentive for you to care for your hair like we do.  We’re happy to use any product you’d like to try and we’ll also make our own hair prescription for you based on your hair type, styling regimen and budget.  But what about those products you have sitting in your bathroom?  Well we’ve got a solution for that problem as well.  You can trade in any gently used products you have at home for an upgrade to PureOlogy.  We will give you 20% off and we’ll even donate your old products where someone else might find them to be a better matchfor their hair!  Ask any Chameleon Stylist for a personalized PureOlogy hair prescription.

What’s the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut?

  • Someone who knows how your hair works!

At Chameleon Salon, our hairstylists have worked with all different hair types and we know how the hair is going to react to a snip here… and a snip there.  We take pride in our ability to listen to the likes, dislikes, concerns and expectations of our clients.  We don’t make that cut unless we’re sure it’s going to be the cut that delivers the results you want to see.  Ultimately it is your decision on whether or not to go through with a particular style…but without professional input… how will you know if it’s going to work or not? If we know your hair realistically won’t do what you’d like it to, we’ll advise you on that before we cut your hair and suggest other options to consider.  Sometimes it takes time to work towards that ideal hairstyle you’re longing for, and the wrong cut can just add time and money to your wait for that perfect style.  While each of  our hairstylists at Chameleon Salon are well rounded and great at what they do, they also have specific areas of expertise.  Let us know what kind of style you’re looking to achieve, what type of hair you think you have and we’ll schedule you time with a hairstylist that will suit you and your needs the best!

Here are a couple pointers:

Layered Cuts

Layers remove weight from the hair, so if your hair feels heavy, this is a great technique to remove some of this weight.  If your hair is fine or thin, layering the hair should be done with caution.  Too much layering can leave fine or thin hair feeling… well….non existent!

Layers can be very versatile… you can wear them straight, wavy or curly.  We’ll show you the many ways you can style your layers.

Layers can help volumize the hair making it appear fuller, especially if cut into the crown area!

Blunt Cut

Blunt cuts are great for thin or fine hair types.  Blunt cuts preserve the most amount of hair, so they won’t leave you feeling like you have no hair left.  However, if you have extremely thick or heavy hair, a blunt cut will not remove any weight for your hair.

Blunt cuts are generally not recommended for extremely thick or curly hair, in these cases blunt cuts will weigh the hair down to the perimeter of the hair cut…this can pull everything down, and can sometimes be  unflattering to your face.

If you’ve had a layered haircut that you’re trying to grow out, blunt cuts are usually the way to go.  Blunt cuts will allow you to trim up the length of your hair around the perimeter while letting your layers grow out to a longer and more desirable length.

Blunt cuts are not as versatile in styling as layers are, but will allow you the most time in between haircuts if you have a busy and packed schedule that conflicts with regular trims.

Graduated Cuts

Graduated cuts are used to build weight to create certain shapes in haircuts.  A great example of a graduated cut is the wedge.  The hair is gradually built up to a certain point, creating the wedge shape.

Graduated cuts are usually very stylish and can work well with several different hair types.  However, because they are cut to a very specific shape, they can sometimes take the most time to style…depending on your hair type.

Graduated cuts usually have the least amount of grace between trims.  Meaning, you might not like how they look if you skip trims and should keep a graduate cut trimmed regularly, about every 6 weeks.

No matter where you end up going, don’t let your stylist talk you into a haircut you’re not sure you’ll like or be able to style.  You know how much time you want to put into your primping and hair regimen.  If a haircut will require more time than you want to put into it, don’t do it!  We’ll give you options to think about and choose from.  It’s your hair and you have to do it every day, choose what you know you can do with your ability and time!

We’re all victims of trying to save a couple bucks and do our own  …. I know, I did it too!  Before I was hair stylist I would do all sorts of things to my hair.  I’d lighten it to a not so pretty blonde color, then decide I wanted to be a red head!  Great idea in theory… however, little did I know, it was going to turn orange… and the same happened when I decided to go back to blonde after being a (bright) red head.  What I’m getting at is I didn’t know any better, and all those box hair color commercials and ads, were only convincing me I could do it myself!  I thought to myself… well it has instructions, disposable gloves… and look, right on the back it even tells me what I can expect my color to turn  out like!  How hard could it be!?…. right?  Wrong!  After several trips back and forth to the beauty supply and drug store… and many, many hats later, I figured it out!  Maybe I’m not meant to take these chemicals, mix them up in the nifty little bottle they come with, and slop it on my head…maybe I need to seek the help of a professional.  I decided to accept the fact that I was not going to have the hair color that Clairol (and other box color companies) said I was going to!  This is when I sought out a professional to fix it.  It wasn’t cheap, and it wasn’t quick, but I ended up with the hair color  I wanted.  Knowing what I know now… I realize by attempting to do my own hair color, it only cost me more money and time to get the color I truly wanted.  Now, I don’t attempt doing my own hair color… not even with salon quality dyes.  Sometimes you need to let go of the reigns and let someone else take over and take care of your hair!

The moral of the story is… at Chameleon Salon we know what it’s like to want that perfect hair color… and to have time and money stand in the way of it.  That’s why we are offering our “DITCH YOUR BOX COLOR” special.  When you bring in that box color and throw it away with us, you’ll save $12 off your professional hair color service at our salon.  The $12 savings is to cover the approximate cost of box hair color.  We will also advise you on what colors and placements will be the most flattering and easy to keep up.  You can spend as little or as much time in the salon as you want, it’s our job to find out what will work out best for your schedule and budget.  Talk to us, let us know what you have to work with…and we can create a regimen that will fit your needs.  You don’t have to be in every month to touch up your hair color unless you want to.  And as far as pricing is concerned… we can also find the most inexpensive way to deliver the results you want to see, plus we’re always doing some sort of promotion to help our clients save money on hair color services!  Let us pamper you with professional and beautiful hair color, we’ll both love it!
